Our respiratory care program provides a range of services for those with breathing difficulties and lung disease. We offer testing and treatment of patients with breathing and other heart-lung disorders such as bronchitis, asthma, respiratory allergies and emphysema. Our respiratory therapist Rod Kenyon works closely with our nursing staff, Inter-Lakes Medical Supply and physicians to coordinate the patient’s respiratory care services.
One of our tools in diagnosing and treating respiratory conditions is a pulmonary function machine called a plethysmograph. The machine looks like a time machine or a space-age telephone booth. The patient sits inside of it and breathes through a tube. The inhaling and exhaling allow the plethysmograph to measure the amount of air the person’s lungs can hold and the ability to get oxygen into the bloodstream. These measures give a picture of how well the lungs are functioning.
